've also got some facebook news this morning. toyota recalling nearly three million vehicles worldwide, that includes the prius. this is due to problems with the steering system. the announcement comes a month after toyota recalled more than seven million vehicles for faulty power window switches that are a potential fire hazard. mr. kernen, good morning. >> andrew, 20 seems to be what facebook is worth, kind of? >> well, it hasn't moved. >> but it kind of found its -- 38, i don't know. but things are worth something, even after you get the people that are really excited and the people that are not excited and it finally finds a place. but 20 seems to kind of be -- maybe it is worth 20, which is not -- for a brand-new company to be worth $43 billion is really not that bad, is it? >> if you were to add yourself to facebook to get an account, it would be worth 21. >> if you don't short it when i finally get on facebook -- you know what i did yesterday? >> i don't know. >> i joined myspace. >> you did? >> no. >> oh. competitors with american companies. it was toyota versus gm. it was toshiba versus ibm, et cetera, et cetera down the line. chinese companies are subcontractors for ameran brands. every apple product is made in china. two weeks ago, i was seeing where they were made. but of the $1,000 for an apple computer, only about $80 or $90 stays in china. the rest is with apple and with the screen makers and advertisers and retailers and fed ex and all the rest. and so, we have a trade deficit with china. the debt that the chinese hold over us actually they view as a weakness on our side for them, rather than us. number one, it makes them hostage to the value of our dollar ando oufinancial markets. if we're having a discussion in china, people would say, "what are we thinking, having all our savings in these u.s. treasury notes? you know, what if they default? what -- the interest, what if they have runaway inflation, et cetera, et cetera?" it's the imbalance between the two countries is a sign of imbalance in both of our systems. we've been too debt dependent and too over consumptive. they have been t

gm was first challenged by toyota or honda and they realized we can't just immediately become toyota because we'll lose our core base of gm buyers. they opened saturn. it's the fastest growing car retailer of all time to mimic mr. ackman. and where did it get gm? retail is a much tougher business than people realize. the number of retailers that have not got through a transition is monumental. i just question whether they have the balance sheet, the preferred yesterday fell off the cliff. the preferred is smarter. >> also, the number of sales per square foot that ackman started, it didn't strike me as much. $270 per square foot. i went into the data base of sales per square foot. it didn't strike me as a goal to aspire to. >> apple is the highest there is. >> 6,050. i went down the value chain. i didn't get to macy's. publixs $480. >> amazing rotisserie chicken. a guy at that takes bags to your car. >> publix is above everybody. >> whole foods -- >> to your point on square footage, at the news stores it's significantly more than the old stores. it's up dramatically from -- so that's
